Resurrecting the Dead

As we celebrate Holy Week coming into Easter, I oftentimes think about the story of the Resurrection as it pertains to my life. I am thankful to God for the blessings that He bestows on me and my family, but wonder about all the “other” stuff, as we all sometimes do. I worry about my family relationships, my finances, my children’s behavior, etc etc etc.

However, this is a time of renewal. Not just in the spiritual. You can see it all around you. It’s the beginning of Spring, officially. You can hear the birds chirping in the morning. You can see the sprouting of flowers in the ground. Many people are coming out of hibernation, excitedly anticipating the better weather.

And, in our spiritual lives, God is renewing us. It is through His resurrection that we were made new. Given everlasting life, and the opportunity to be with Him forever. It is through His stripes we are healed and made whole. Its easy to forget that sometimes when we are buried in the mundane of our everyday lives. There was a sacrifice made for us, and His name is Jesus. Jesus, who died on the cross and beared that excruciating pain so that we may live. Oh, how great a sacrifice.

So, on this upcoming Sunday, and always, really, as you think about His resurrection, think about all the things in your life that can be resurrected. Marriages, relationships, jobs, careers, plans, hope, dedication. He can do that for you.

Revelations 21:4-5 (NKJV) says “And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.”

If you believe that God is faithful and His words are true, you will believe that He will do that for you.
